FAQs

Have More Questions About Our Fuel Discount Cards?

  • When you buy fuel at a gas station, you pay the Rack Price + Taxes + Transportation Costs + Retail Markup—resulting in higher costs at the pump.

With Fair Fuel, you get wholesale pricing based on the Rack Price without the high retail markup, ensuring consistent savings. While the Rack Price fluctuates daily, your cost always stays lower than retail.

In Alberta, the wholesale rack price is the base cost fuel distributors pay at rack terminals—large storage hubs where gasoline and diesel are sold in bulk. This price is updated daily based on crude oil prices, refining costs, and market conditions, while taxes and transportation costs remain relatively stable.

  • Based on the average February Market Prices and daily provider rack rates in Calgary, the average Fair Fuel savings per litre were:

    16¢ per litre for diesel
    6¢ per litre for gasoline

This amount can change daily depending on the spread between the retailer market prices and fuel partner rack rates. There may be months when your savings is higher.

Your fuel price is based on the fuel provider’s daily Rack Price + Transportation Fees + all applicable fuel taxes such as Federal Excise Tax (FET) + Federal Fuel Charge + Provincial Fuel Tax + GST
